winner and next book give-away

Random.org--whom I am now on a first name basis with, so I've taken to calling him Randy for short--has chosen the winner. Vanessa, it's you, dear! The very last commenter. How's that for true randomness? So Vanessa, send me your address and I'll send you a signed ARC.

But the rest of you that Randy unintentionally snubbed still have a chance because my French translator, Erzsi Deak, has an interview with me on her site in honor of the French release of My Fair Godmother, called: Le Troisieme Voeu (The Third Wish)

So here's the deal, read the interview (Oh come on, I know you all want to read about my embarrassing algebra moment) and leave a comment on my blog about something you learned from the interview. I'll give away two more ARCs. Followers get double chances the next week when I sit down with Randy again.

Hi Janette! I want to win SO badly. I'm obsessed with French now that I'm learning it at school. How cool would it be to actually have a French BOOK?!? That's also a book that I know?? Anyways, I learned that you're sick of knock-knock jokes because you have FIVE KIDS! Makes sense, haha! YOU ARE THE BEST AUTHOR EVER, I can't believe you have time to write such incredibly witty books with FIVE KIDS! That's insane! I hope Randy picks me, I would DIE if I won!!!

Well, as a stalker, I wasn't sure there would be much to learn by reading yet another interview but, lo and behold, I learned that you (and I) love Brian Reagan.

I have a daughter named Caroline, and when her name is mispronounced, I find myself wanting to say "It's Caro-LINE, Brian!" but I usually refrain.

And I'm a follower, so here's to double-hoping Randy picks me!

Wow the cover is gorgemus! I found Janelle's comment funny because my little sister is named Caroline (no I'm serious) and people always call her Carolinn. I gained respect for you after reading this. It's hard to come by teen directed writers who care about clean comedians, and stuff. Also learned you have a facebook, and you were a normal teen like me! Sometimes I worry that if I'm not a super genius that I don't stand a chance to be a writer, and you were in H. English too! :)

Hi Janette! I would love love love to win the book if it is international!
I learned that you are tired of knock-knock jokes. Even I am !!
And I learned you have 5 kids!!! Wow! How do you manage?I totally admire you for that!

Loved the wardrobe malfunction story! Also, I agree with you about people not placing enough literary value on humorous stories. A lot of my favorite books are stories that made me laugh aloud often. Humor is tough sell, regardless of if your writing or just telling a joke. Everyone's sense of humor differs and to have multiple people regard your work as funny is a great accomplishment and a lot harder than many realize.

Hi,
I discovered your work fairly recently, during the book babe event. Ever since I've read most of your books and I am eagerly awaiting for the next ones. Out of them all, my favorites are: How to take the Ex out of Ex-Boyfriend and It's a Mall world after all. I wanted to tell you that you make me laugh a lot since as you pointed out in your intervieww, it's important to do so. In any cas I would love to win the French copy of your book especially if it's an international contest. Would I gain points if I said that I am French myself and that I follow your blog? By the way, you mispelled the French titls. It's VOEU (I'm sorry I'm annoying you).
Thanks a lot,
Camille

I want to read more of your books for inspiration on balancing the funny with the romance in my own writing.

I always knew those rental horses were trouble!
Oh, and I may be a follower 2 or 3 times over. Does that help my chances?

I won? OMG I won! I never win! I love RANDOMNESS!

Um.... how do I send my address to you? I don't really feel comfortable doing so in a comment...

I learned that you probably love math just as much as I do.
Also, I'm not going to get on a horse for a long, long time. Not that I ride horses that much anyway, but still.
You can tell Randy that if he picks me, I'll buy him chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate. :)

Great interview, Janette!
I usually got the right math answers by doing them wrong also...

Vanessa--email me your address at jrallisonfans at yahoo dot com. (of course you need to use the real signs and leave out the spaces . . . but you get the idea.)

I learned that you have two sisters and three brothers, as do I!

And I'm going to check out those comedians you mentioned; finding comedians with material clean enough for kids to listen to is hard.

Hey, Janette! I had to laugh at your horseback riding adventure gone wrong; I rode horses for three years, and I am now very glad my horse never got into a brawl. Oh, and I'm a follower!

I learned that you like Ellen Conford. I LOVE her book "The Alfred G. Graebner Memorial High School Handbook of Rules and Regulations." It was one of my favorite books in high school.

I loved your story about Honors Algebra. I was always in the "honors" classes too because I was "smart", but I have no idea what I learned or how I passed. When I read that 8+5=12 I seriously had to stop and think about it. Please bless I win!

Do I also need to say that I'm a follower? Because I am.

I'm a follower,

I learned we have honors Algebra in common.

I Argued and argued with my teacher to NOT make me take honors Algebra but ended up in it anyway. I got c's. Seriously when have honors math and honors English even been close to the same. Some people's teachers and guidance councilors. :)

Hi Janette,
I learned about your performance in Honors Algebra. I think its awesome, really, when you think about how the other math whizzes were probably stumped for a week -knowing they would have never come up with the same 'right' answer!! As me for - I didn't ever go to the board in Honors Algebra - just dropped my pencil and leaned over to get it and yep- I was sitting in one of those one sided chair with desk on it - fell right over, still in my chair. STuck, couldn't get up. Teacher writing on the board, class staring at me until she finally turned around and said, "well someone help her up" Now I can laugh. tlpassey at aol dot com.

It's interesting how you thought that you'd impress the popular boys by making them laugh. That was my whole goal in high school, and yet I still rarely got dates. What's up with that?

Oh, yeah, and I'm a follower. Double awesome possum points!

Oh, Tamera,
That desk story is too funny! I'm totally going to have to have that happen to one of my charac!

I learned that you have a van! We have a Nissan Quest (used to have a Dodge minivan) . . . come to think of it I had a van the whole time I was growing up!

I also learned that you have considered writing a sequel to Savannah's story and having it be romance/adventure. I think that we (your fans) would all read it even if it wasn't "fantasy" (I know I would!) Just a thought . . .

I learned that you would be a fun mom - you have as much fun in real life as your characters do! I would like to be more like that. Also, I'll second the motion about a sequel to Savannah's story, no matter what the genre. I just picked up MY DOUBLE LIFE the other day and knocked it out in a few hours while kiddos were napping! If my hubby gets home and the house is still a mess, he knows I picked up a new book! It's necessary every once in a while.
