For those of you who are devoted followers of my blog (Hi Mom!) you know that I was supposed to be done with my first draft of my next manuscript by the end of August. It's still August, right?
Well, okay, the end of August was always a long shot. I'm simply not one of those authors who can write a book in two weeks or a month. I never even try during National Write a Book in a Month. (Who are these people and do they ever shower?)
Anyway, after four months of not cooking dinner and wholing up in my room during every free moment, I'm finally done with the first draft.
Hurray!
I lovingly patted it's pages (well, electronically anyway)and sent it off to the bow-tied one last night. I'm sure he will slaughter it with post haste and send me back the bleeding entrails to fix.
When we last talked on the phone about it, one of the first things he asked me was whether it was going to make him cry. I keep telling him that I write romantic comedies and people aren't supposed to cry during those, but he doesn't buy it. Since I wrote Just One Wish for him, he wants tears.
Actually, I'm sure it will make him cry--although maybe just because it wasn't what he wanted after all and he had to wait four months for it.
We'll see.

Call me naive (or anything else you may find appropriate) but I think a novel in 4 months is pretty darn impressive! I'm on the 4 YEAR plan!
Is this the novel that is "sans title"?
You are so funny. I'm sure if the bow-tied one cries, it'll be because your book is so moving.
I was a NaNoWriMo winner last year (National Novel Writing Month) and I can testify to the fact that I did shower (at least much as I normally do, anyway) :D But you have to remember, they said you have to write a 50,000-word book in a month. They didn't say the book had to be /good/ :D
That particular book is nowhere near being finished to the point that I could send it off, and that was LAST year's NaNo. Many - if not most - of those 50,000 words have gone the way of the delete button.
I did Nano last year and while it was a bit mental, 1667 words a day isn't too bad. Especially if there's nothing to say they have to be any good.
Learning to turn off the internal editor was a good lesson to learn, I found, even if the end result was bin worthy.

Yep, this is the one without a title thus far, although I think I will be making an announcement about that very soon.
Now you have a whole week to do all the projects you've been neglecting for the last four months :)

I'm with the other Nanowriters...I did NaNoWriMo last year and it's totally possible! I wrote this 50,000+ word novel that would just...well, make you throw up, really. It was bad. Really bad.
But I had 50,000+ words!

I was one of those NaNo people, and I even occasionally remembered to shower before the mailman caught me trying to check the mail.
I'm kind of doing a FauxNaNo this year, just to finish the book I already have.

Congrats, Janette! I was browsing amazon today to choose one of your books for my daughter for Christmas, and I think I may have seen the cover for this one. Very cool! And definitely inviting, as far as saying, Read ME! The 2 new books coming out look great!
The covers are a definite improvement. Hope your daughter likes them!
