Why I shouldn't stay up so late.

Photobucket
I'm a night person, I really am. (You may have already noticed that many of my blogs are posted during hours when all normal human beings are asleep.) If I'm behind on a manuscript . . . which lately has been, um, always . . . then it's easy for me to stay up into the a.m. when I should be sleeping.

Lucky for me, my dear husband will get the kids up and ready for school. Well, sort of anyway. The last time I stayed up late, when I went to pick up my daughter from school she was wearing her gray stretchy pants with the black and cranberry design along with a lavendar striped sweater. And her hair wasn't combed. Yeah, this is pretty much your basic white trash uniform.

I have told my husband upon these sorts of occassions, "Dear, if I should die, I want you to remarry. And let her dress the children."

I really need to get to bed earlier.

Does she really look worse than the other children in her class? I think she doesn't look too bad, but maybe it's because she's such a cute kid overall. She rocks the white trash look.

You could lay out an outfit for her the night before, but it would significantly decrease the humor factor in your life. And wouldn't you miss that little thrill of anticipation you must get as you're waiting for her to walk out the front door of the school? What will she have on? Polka dots and plaid? Her sister's skirt, tailored to fit with staples?

Sounds like "su casa es mi casa". Throw in the fact that I'm color-blind and you end up with some pretty funky looking outfits! My wife just looks at me in disbelief when I dress the kids!

One day I'll tell her that: "But honey, you rock the white trash look, so stop whining about designer clothes and go see what's in the clearance bin at Kmart."

Actually, I do lay out several outfits for her, but she always chooses to ignore them.

I really don't know what my husband's excuse is--well, besides the fact that he's an electrical engineer . . . think Dilbert and fashion . . .

I think I need to show my husband your post. HE can't even manage his own morning without my help. Kudos to your guy, Guy.

I am so there with you on the late night thing. :) luckily my kids that dont care what they look like are boys, jeans and a semi clean t shirt are passable, shaved heads are a must! my DD is 14 she gets herself ready.

When I was about four years old, my mum went back to college and my dad got the job of dressing me and getting me ready for pre-school. If you look at the pictures, I have lovely, shiny pigtails. However, after my mother graduated, she took me to get my long hair trimmed and they couldn't get a comb through it. Apparently my dad had just been scooping it up into pigtails for a year or so and brushing the top. They had to cut all my hair off into a pixie cut for Kindergarten.

My husband and I have rules--he is not to dress the children or try to do their hair under any circumstances. Luckily my older daughters are now old enough to insure they and their little sister do not fall prey to his attempts.

At least you kept the photographic evidence, that could come in handy.

I'm sure my husband will be glad to know that he's not the only one with this problem, and Joelle--ouch!

Hi Janette!

I really loved your book "How to Take The Ex Out of Ex Boyfriend". I'm going to be writing a review of it, hopefully to be put up on my website later this week. =)

I know what you mean about being a nightowl- I'm one myself. It's so easy wasting the night away doing random things that you just don't have time for during the daytime. I feel for you.

Good luck dressing your children! =)
