In which I hop and give away a fairy godmother

My Unfair Godmother

Actually, I'm not hopping--you are. Which is a good thing because frankly I'm too tired.  Inspired Kathy, who put this blog hop together, told me that I'm not allowed to give you long lists of things to do in order to enter my give-away.  However, she didn't say I couldn't require you to walk into your nearest bookstore, grab one of my novels to your bosom and shout, "At long last I'll own a Janette Rallison novel! I can die happy now!"

Yeah, do that.

And also leave a comment telling me a fairy tale you'd like to see in my next fairy godmother book. Once I get done with the four novels I'm working on now (Yes, four. Someone shoot me.)I'll need to figure out where Chrysanthemum Everstar will send the next poor hapless girl she's trying to help.

May the magic ever be in your favor.

Hmm, I like sleeping beauty as well. Oh, and Henzel and Gretel! That would be very interesting!

Cant wait for the next book in the series!!

Twelve Dancing Princesses or Beauty and the Beast (the original version, not the Disney).

*clutches heart and passes out from hearing about a third Godmother book*

...

*revives*

I know it'll probably take ages to be released, but this is exciting news still.

My favorite fairytale has always been Beauty and the Beast (and not just the Disney version). I'd love to see that one. I wonder if there are any versions where the genders are switched, though; I'd love to see a version where it's the girl who is the beastly-looking one. The movie "Penelope" doesn't really count, since the main character still looked rather pretty despite having a pig nose.

There's also Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, The Elves and the Shoemaker, or The Valiant Little Tailor.

You already used my second favorite fairytale (Rumpelstiltskin) in the last book, so that's out of the question, hahaha.

Oh, and I just thought you might like to know, recently I spoke to a girl at the bookstore about "Just One Wish". I managed to convince her to buy it!

I'm not entering since I've already been lucky enough to win My Unfair Godmother, but I will say that I'm super excited to hear that there is a third book to come!

I would love to see what you could do with Rapunzel or Sleeping Beauty!

I always shout those words whenever I buy a Janette Rallison book :)
You can put your characters anywhere and I'll be happy!

I was thinking Hansel and Gretel as well, or some of the less well-known ones like goose girl or the 12 dancing princesses

Tiana Smith said...

Oooh, there are so many good suggestions already. I love the 12 Dancing Princesses, Rapunzel and Jack and the Beanstalk. (Althought 12 Dancing Princesses has been done a lot lately). What about Aladdin? That'd be cool. Same with Hercules (though, that's not exactly a fairy tale...)

Sam K said...

Let's see...I don't know if it would work at all, but my fairy tale is a Grimm Brothers Tale. Its known as The Story Of A Youth Who Went Forth To Learn What Fear Was. I first read it in 6th grade, and it has been my favorite ever since. IF that could be adapted to fit into a story, I would be ever so excited. =)

Erin Edwards said...

I just won Unfair Godmother as well (yeah!), so I'll not enter either, but I wanted to join in on the Fairytale discussion...

I always loved the picture of Thumbelina in a fairytale book that my grandmother had. Lot's of "Honey I Shrunk the Kids"-like potential here!

I would have to go with the popular 12 Dancing Princesses.

The Little Mermaid would be a cool story, Especially if it was a snobbish rich girl who always wanted more. Thumbelina is also a great story.

I have yet to read any of your books (but I do plan on it! I swear!) so I'm not sure if you've already retold Beauty and the Beast, but I love any and all retellings of it and it'd be awesome to read another version of it. Thank you for this giveaway!

I got some strange looks at the bookstore as I was fulfilling your first request. I have always loved the story of Rapunzel.

Allerednic said...

Hmmm. . .let's think. My favorites are Rumpelstiltskin and Cinderella, which you already covered in the first two books. I do like Jack and the Beanstalk a lot, however, and The 12 Dancing Princesses (although the original fairy tale is really vague -- it never lists a reason for why the princesses dance all night every night, which is irritating). I love how the original in the Grimm brothers' book is called "The Shoes that were Danced to Pieces", too.

Sayomay said...

You should redo Sailor Moon!!! XD I LOVED that show as a girl!

I would love to see Jack and the Beanstalk or Little Red Riding Hood! I AM SO EXCITED FOR A THIRD FAIRY GODMOTHER!!!

Donna Hatch, fantasy and historical romance author said...

I like Jack in the Beanstalk. Maybe Jack is really Jackie and the giant is a hot teenaged guy? And he falls--not down the beanstalk--but for Jackie.

Yeah, okay, maybe too much mushy stuff on the brain.

I love Swan Lake, the 12 Dancing Princesses, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast.
Maybe you could intertwine the Emperor's New Clothes in there somewhere or the Shoemaker and the Elves. How about the Ugly Duckling.
We can brainstorm later if you want ;-)

Yay for a book 3!

OH MY GOODNESS! I can. Not. Wait. For. More. Chrissy!! :D Best godmother eva if you ask me. Yay!

My favorite of all fairytales is The Wild Swans, so that would be really cool. Someone also said Red Riding Hood. That would be awesome to! So many amazing things to pick from!

Oh! And I just thought of Princess and the Pea. That would be really neat!

4 BOOKS! I'm not gonna shoot you because I want to read them SO BAD! Can't wait!

Henzel and Gretel would be fun. Or maybe the frog princess--it would be too funny to see what you could do to get the character to kiss a frog, or find someone to kiss her.

Anonymous said...

I think it would be really funny to see you write about the princess and the frog. I bet you would do a great job getting the character to kiss a frog, or have the girl turn into a frog and try to figure out a way to get the guy to kiss her.
