Book signings then and now

When I first became an author I thought book signings were all about meeting my public, finding out what they wanted, and making them happy.

Sorry public, I gave up on making you happy long ago.

Now it's all about not looking bad in front of the book store personnel. If that means begging everyone I know to come into the store then I will do it unashamedly. Because there is nothing worse than having the book store personnel think you are a friendless, readerless author who can't draw a crowd.

So, although I know it seems like I just told you about a book signing, (because I did,) now I'm telling you about another one. I'll be at Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe with super fun author Janni Simner doing readings and a signing.

This is your official invitation begging you to come!

Tuesday, March 31
7:00 PM

*sends my virtual self*

If only there wasn't about 2,000 miles between there and here.

*contemplates cutting and pasting the atlas* o:)

Good luck with your book signing!

Okay, I can't claim a 2,000 mile separation, but I can't get to Tempe. I did, however, make a point of asking the first bookstore employee I ran into at B&N at Desert Ridge last week where you were holding your author signing. (He gave me a look like maybe I wasn't very bright, since your table was set up like 25 feet behind him. -- the things I do for fellow authors!) Good luck at Changing Hands!!

It's always hard to say how long these things last. Generally I'd say an hour, but there are two of us doing readings so it may well last until 8:30.

I'll talk slowly just in case. Hope you can make it!

This has nothing to do with your blog post, but oh well. I think you'll forgive me. ;)

I just read Just One Wish today, and absolutely loved it. It was so sweet and funny and poignant. Keep up the awesome writing!

You're coming near me soon! I'll be there with JUST ONE WISH in hand. I'll bring my mama along this time too. :) I'm sure she'd be happy to see you.

I'll look for you! And thanks for the comment about Just One Wish. I liked it too. (I'm only slightly biased.)
